Introduction and welcome

Hello and welcome

This course has been created to with two aims:-

  • Help you to write a master book proposal
  • To make sure you are writing the right book

Writing a book proposal will give you clarity from the outset and even after you have written your book.

Now matter how you have arrived here, you will leave with clarity and a master document that you can use to approach agents and publishers with.

This is your chance to put forward good research and arguments that tell an agent WHY your book and not someone else's. Your proposal will be used to sell your book to a publisher.

The bottom line is if you write this well, they like you and your book idea, you will get a contract.

If you take the time to properly research and develop your proposal, it could take much longer than the 10 days I have suggested in this course. However, if you take a chunk a day and understand what is needed you can come back to each part and complete fully at a later time.

Personally I like my clients to be completing this as they are planning their books as so much can change in the vital planning stage. Once they get to first draft they can come back and perfect.

This allows them to make sure that this is the right book.

What is vital for a publisher is the marketability of your book and they will be interested in your platform and to know what you intend to do to sell it.

Another key to this is to make sure that you sell what outcome your reader will get.

Remember an agent wants to know why this book, what is different about your book and what need does it fulfill for your reader and the marketplace.

The proposal you write on this course is your master proposal and you will use this as the foundation for the ones you submit using the agent you are approaching's one if they have specified that you must.

Please come into our support group and share your book idea and what you want this proposal to achieve.

I'm looking forward to getting to know you and your book.
